ILÉ ELDERS: Vibrant Community Hub targeting Black and racialised elders

25 ILÉ Volunteers and one Project/Volunteer Manager provide the following services:

  1. Open House Lunch: Our community chef prepares delicious and culturally appropriate meals for 30 elders once a week, fostering a sense of community and ensuring that nutritional needs are met. 90% of our users live alone and struggle to afford cooked meals every day.

  2. Soul Food Warmers: Meals delivered to 20 house-bound elders once a week, promoting inclusivity and accessibility. We have our minibus and driver.

  3. Mobile Hub: Minibus delivery of essential supplies such as toiletries and stationery to 20 house-bound elders and/or those recovering from illness; ensuring basic needs are met; promoting dignity and comfort; and sustaining contact with vulnerable older people.

  4. EngAGE & Connect: Weekly digital support for 40 older people, helping them to use their mobile phones, WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc, to connect with loved ones who live far away, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.

  5. Eldercare Compass: Weekly face-to-face and telephone signposting and referral service, helping older people impacted by the cost-of-living crisis to access welfare advice
